A Day In A Park In China (III) - The Opera Singers.

One of my absolute favorite things to do every time I travel to China and have some spare time is to find a public park to people watch. If the weather is nice, as it was this day in Guangzhou, you can often find a bustle of activity. In this series of photos, I’ll try to capture just some of that.

Splatter.

I spent an afternoon exploring and poking my head around the back streets of Guangzhou, wanting to get a sense of how the average person lived. One thing that struck me as I walked around were the letterboxes: the first picture showing how colourful and nonchalantly they were placed in front of buildings. The second photo captures boxes for local paper, complete with smilies and decorated in a bright red. It kinda made me happy.

Playtime.
The pragmatism of the Chinese never fails to impress; it’s perfectly acceptable to turn the carpark of a museum into an outdoor badminton court.

Rebooted

The year of the horse brings a fresh start to this blog. This Prodigal Returns Home will now be dedicated to my original photos, while I’ve started a new blog: Human Connection, for reblogs and the like.

As you may have noticed, gone is the old theme and in its place is Cinereoism by the hugely talented Ryann Reyes. Not only is this theme beautiful in its simplicity, but it also displays photos in 700px-wide which I think is wonderful for a photography blog. One quirk with the new size is that some of the older photos in portrait-orientation will look a little ‘soft’ because I’ve scaled them down in the past. I have fixed this for new posts.

I hope you enjoy the new direction of this blog and I welcome your feedback. Thanks for your support.
