Splatter.

I spent an afternoon exploring and poking my head around the back streets of Guangzhou, wanting to get a sense of how the average person lived. One thing that struck me as I walked around were the letterboxes: the first picture showing how colourful and nonchalantly they were placed in front of buildings. The second photo captures boxes for local paper, complete with smilies and decorated in a bright red. It kinda made me happy.

Slice.
After I took this photo, my brother told me it was an awfully brave thing to do considering the man was holding a 20” blade in his hand.

Deng’s Legacy
It’s been a handful of years since I last visited Shenzhen and my previous impression of it was not so fond. This time, however, had me thoroughly impressed. It’s a megapolis like the other tier-1 Chinese cities, but unlike the other major Chinese cities, Shenzhen really has only come to significance in the last 30 years following Deng Xiaoping’s economic reforms. What a legacy he’s left.

WHOA. Come home to my computer to find my Tumblr notifications totally blow up, only to realise that the kind people at Lensblr had picked up on this photo from Xi’an. A big, humble ‘thank you’ to the network for showcasing this photo. And to the new people who’ve decided to track my work, I really hope you enjoy this journey! Would very much welcome any comments and love to strike up a dialogue in the near future.
Best, Alex
